KMC Bar & Bistro

Designed within a sculpture park, KMC blends art, nature, and architecture to create a warm, timeless dining experience rooted in materiality and spatial balance.

This Mumbai restaurant sits in a sculpture park

It’s not every day you dine beside a Subodh Gupta or an Anish Kapoor. But at KMC, a new restaurant set inside a sculpture park in Mumbai’s Vikhroli East, that’s exactly what you’ll find.

Located within the Godrej Trees campus, KMC is one of Mumbai’s first restaurants to operate in such a unique setting—a green urban space thoughtfully designed to blend nature, art, and modern living.

The restaurant is founded by Chef Niyati Rao and Sagar Neve, the team behind the acclaimed fine-dining restaurant Ekaa. At KMC, they bring their signature ingredient-driven, globally influenced cuisine into a more casual, approachable environment that complements the space.

Designed by Sapana Jain , KMC’s interiors reflect an aesthetic Jain calls “Old-World Soul”—a considered mix of raw textures like wood, leather, and aged metal balanced with refined classical details. The inspiration draws from European bars and mid-century lounges, aiming for a space that feels intimate, timeless, and comfortable rather than trendy. KMC is nestled inside a green campus surrounded by residential towers and corporate offices, yet enveloped in lush landscaping. The design balances this structured urban context with a warm, textured atmosphere that invites guests to slow down and settle in.

Spatial Design

KMC begins as a bare shell, and you immediately notice the biggest design challenge—the curved façade of windows that creates a naturally asymmetrical space. This is addressed by introducing a custom curved ceiling that mirrors the external form, helping you experience a cohesive spatial language throughout.

It’s a deliberate effort to visually tie the architecture and interiors together. As you move through the space, the layout offers you distinct zones of experience. You enter through a soft threshold: on one side, a glass-enclosed fermentation area draws your attention; on the other, a brass-detailed wine cellar adds a sense of richness. Walking further in, the main dining space opens up to you with a mix of cozy corners and intimate seating arrangements.

Throughout your journey, the materials—wooden flooring, leather upholstery, brushed brass, and dark marble—come together to create an environment that feels layered, grounded, and thoughtfully composed.
